If you are a developer like me learning and working feverishly on .NET 2.0, then such releases (.NET 3.0) in quick succession would definitely frustrate you. But the good news is that, .NET 3.0 is not going to put you back to zero. It is supposed to be an extension to .NET 2.0. All the stuff that you are currently working on should ideally work on .NET 3.0 framework with out any major re-haul. And, the formula is:
.NET 3.0 = .NET 2.0 + (WCF + WF + WPF + WCS)
WCF: Windows Communication Foundation (Formarly known as Indigo)
WF: Windows Workflow Foundation
WPF: Windows Presenation Foundation
WCS: Windows Card Space
It is not as bad as the move you made from VB6 to .NET. .NET 3.0 looks as below:
